Rise and Shine
The "Rise and Shine" project brings female attorneys together with disadvantaged women in need of employment for the purpose of providing them with basic tools, skills and other assistance that will enable them to compete more effectively for jobs. The goal and expectation of this project is to expand into other counties in North Carolina. Sixty volunteers, including volunteer lawyers and law students and community volunteers, helped 28 women learn more about themselves and how to navigate the job market. After two nights of experiential learning, food and fellowship, the “Rise and Shine” participants left the program well prepared for their employment search and their next jobs.
